Bob had always been able to handle any situation, but now he was afraid. In the past several years, he had seen a steady decline in both his health and that of his dear wife, Anna. With her severe diabetes affecting both her vision and her ability to walk, and with the permanent catheter, her medical problems were much more serious than his. Anna needed help with everything. And it was just this morning that Bob was reminded that his own situation was worsening as his legs once again failed him. He had fallen hard, right in front of the kitchen sink, scraping and bruising his elbow hard on the sharp counter edge.

Bob knew he was not going to be able to handle things much longer by himself. They could not continue to live in their home under these circumstances. It just wasn't safe for either of them. And Bob didn't feel that he could count on his sons. After all, not only was Tom still reeling from the divorce, he had just received word that he was going to be laid off from his job. Tom already had enough on his plate. And Bill . . . well, they had never been able to work together on anything without arguing. Anna certainly didn't need to deal with that on top of everything else.

Bob and Anna had met earlier in the week with a representative from Always Home, Inc.. He had read about their services in the church newsletter. They were delighted to find that Always Home, Inc. specialized in situations just like theirs. Not only did they help them decide on a realistic and workable solution, but Always Home, Inc. also had all the resources in place to take care of every need throughout the transition.

With the help of Always Home, Inc., Bob and Anna visited several assisted living communities and found a new home that was perfect for them. Once that decision was finalized, Always Home, Inc. stepped in and took care of every detail of arranging the move, meeting with the packers, and unpacking and setting them up in their new residence. They even hung the pictures on the walls! When the move was completed, Always Home, Inc. oversaw all the details of the estate sale and even arranged shipment of several family heirlooms to Tom and Bill. The house was listed and quickly sold.

Bob had really been dreading the overwhelming task of sorting and eliminating all the things he and Anna had accumulated over the 43 years they had lived in their home. Actually, there was no possible way he could have gone into that attic! And the very thought of arranging all the details of this transition, meeting with numerous contractors, and overseeing the entire event was exhausting! What a relief to sit back and know that everything would be handled professionally and with compassion and dignity!
