Lydia and her husband loved to travel. After Larry retired, they sold the farm and moved into a smaller home in town. They were now free to pursue their favorite pastime unencumbered. Then, only two short years ago, Larry had a sudden, fatal heart attack. As Lydia's grief began to subside, and healing began, she wanted to spend more time with her daughter and grandchildren in Arizona. Family ties were becoming more precious than ever. And, Lydia still loved to travel. After all, she still had friends in many other states, especially Florida.
Lydia wasn't ready to make a decision about a permanent retirement location for herself. That would come later. She was still active, very much an independent thinker, with an adventuresome streak. There would be no Bingo games for her quite yet. She would much rather hop into her dusty Jeep Wrangler and head off on a rocky road in the hills of Tennessee. There were many options available to her and she needed time before she made such a major decision. But, at age 70, she was in excellent health, and she wanted the freedom to travel. The last thing Lydia wanted was to be tied to a lawn mower all summer! So, she decided to downsize once again to a nice apartment, dispose of the things she no longer needed, and take the time to do the things that were important to her. However, as she began to realize the scope of the job that she would have to undertake on her own, her enthusiasm began to wane somewhat. She would definitely need help!
One morning, while having her cup of coffee, Lydia picked up the local newspaper and read about a company that specializes in assisting senior adults who are making a residential downsizing transition. She gave Always Home, Inc. a call and was greatly encouraged by the services they provided.
With the help of Always Home, Lydia was able to complete her move with little effort on her part. The liaisons from Always Home provided the labor and coordinated the entire process. As she and the Always Home liaison sorted through the memorabilia of her life, she shared with her the fun times and the sad times, the ups and downs, and her wonderful travel stories. And even more importantly, for Lydia, she did not have to go through this tedious transition alone. She had a friend with whom to talk and bounce ideas off. And she had fun! If you or someone you know would benefit from the services of Always Home, Inc., please contact us.
